My mother taught me to sew from a very young age. She made most of my clothes until I was old enough to make my own.

Making has provided me with income for many years. Whether its making a garment or making a cake, it all gives me pleasure and a reason for being.

I mainly sew wearable items, currently I produce a clothing range called Handprinted. Sewing for others also happens from time to time - I have made everything from lounge covers to wedding dresses, lots of repairs and alterations for friends in between.

I combine my skills of textile printing with sewing and have a small home business that has had many different names and products over the years, it's rewarding to make things that people enjoy using and wearing. I know that this activity will be part of my life for as long as I am able to create.

How much time do you spend sewing in a typical week?

If I have an event or market it can be 4 or 5 hours every night. Otherwise a few hours every week.

Do you have any sewing tips to share?

Never stop learning from others.

What sewing accessory can you not live without?

A good pair of scissors!

I love making, it gives great pleasure and satisfaction.
