I started sewing as young as I remember. I was self-taught but supported by my grandmothers and mum who would supply fabric, thread, sewings kits. I make quilts, clothes, costumes, backdrops, toys and I still do a bit of embroidery such as cross stitch as well. I started in craft sewing years ago, completed a Bachelor of Fine Art majoring in Fibre Art and now I try to use experimental techniques in upcycling.

I love sewing. I’m re-finding my feet with my practice, after years of soul destroying office work.

I also write and perform comedy.

"I had to make 4 matching pickle costumes for one of the shows. I don’t know why I write such ridiculous stuff only to have to make it all later. I also made a life size doll. I’m making a new sequin outfit to wear to Eurovision and sewing lots of upcycled stuff for my friend's shop."

My sewing tip is to just do it, make mistakes. Start now and get perfect later. When I was a teen, I argued that I could fix anything with sewing, my boyfriend at the time didn’t believe me. He showed my a toilet cistern which wouldn’t stop running. I fixed it by sewing the arm to the plug and the button to the pump and hey presto!
