Brian and Jean have been sewing together for many years. It's a very relaxing past time for them both. Jean learnt to sew from her school teacher when she was 5 years old. Brian was about 9 years old when he discovered sewing - he would turn the handle on his mum's sewing machine and then his mum would let him sew the scraps.

Jean makes quilts for herself and also to give to hospitals and hospices. Brian loves to make art quilts and kites and even won a first prize at an art show for what he describes as his most ordinary quilt. Jean hand sews everything and her most important sewing accessory are her fingers.

Do you have any sewing tips to share?

Brian ~ Don't be afraid to throw failed projects into the bin

Jean ~ Make mistakes and learn from them

Making mistakes is a wonderful way to learn and grow in the sewing journey. Not every project will be a success and not every project will be easy.
